The exterior paneling of the walls
The picture below shows the installation method of OSB exterior paneling. Before the installation all the edges of panels must be processed by priming or by sealing compound. There should remain the clearance of 3mm between the edges of panels, which allows their linear expansion without buckling. All the edges of panels should lean on the frame construction or on the wooden strutting sections with the width not less than 38x38mm. It is possible also to use the rack lathing, recommended with Construction code NBCC for other types of finishing. The vertical joints between the panels must be protected from the penetration of water by means of airtight putty or wooden laths; for the horizontal joints the isolation also is required, besides the cases of panels overlap. The exterior paneling must be fastened with the finishing or sheathing nails, nailed at a distance of 150mm along panel’s edges, 300mm along the intermediate supports, but not less than 10mm from the edge of panel. You may use also other uniform strength diagrams of installation. After being fixed the OSB panels should be protected by the proper water-resistant finishing. The exterior OSB paneling is used only for the temporary constructions. Before starting up the project one should compare it with the requirements of local construction department.
