Wall sheeting
On the picture below you may see the wall sheeting procedure and the distances between supports are shown also. Wall panels of sheeting can be mounted by the long side lengthways or across upright of frame. It is necessary to leave a clearance of 3мм between panels and window and doorway apertures. Wooden wall bracings or diagonal bracings, as a rule, are not required at OSB sheeting, except the cases stipulated by the constructor. OSB joints bracing are required for shift bracing walls which are specially intended for transferring the wind and seismic surcharges towards foundation of the construction. Sheeting panels should close top and bottom of the wall frame ledger to provide continuous transfer of surcharge from the roof to the foundation. The part 9 of the Construction Codes NBCC demands installation, at least, one layer of a protective membrane under an exterior boards paneling, coating or facing stone ashlaring. Protective membrane is not necessary to install if joints of exterior paneling provide effective protection against the wind and the rain. However SBA recommends using a protective membrane for all types of exterior furnishes. In case of plaster furnishing sheeting should be covered by a double layer of a protective membrane to prevent the penetration of the dump inside the panel during plaster hardening or owing to a rain with a wind. It is necessary to notice that the part 9 NBCC specifies the minimum thickness of the panel 12,5mm and does not allow using tar roofing or cardboard as a membrane under plaster. Connections of a protective membrane should be carried out with overlapping not less than 150mm. the frame elements around apertures should be protected with two layers of a membrane. Besides, appropriate project and correct techniques of using isolating joints should provide protection against penetration of water in the space between membrane and sheeting.
